Summary:

In coordination and conjunction with the other ACT team members, provides, oversees, and/or administers a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention services in a clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making as well as coordinated interdisciplinary team work.  Most aspects of this job require clinical assessment, evaluation, and intervention skills to persons with severe and persistent mental illness who are in need of intensive services within a community based setting.  Position is required to have experience and skills vocational/rehabilitation treatment/counseling.  Case management and supportive services are also an integral component to this position.

Special Attributes: 

Strong psychosocial, clinical assessment skills. Minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with professions and clients/families. Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from a four-year state accredited school of nursing and one year of experience in psychiatric nursing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, License, Registration:

Must be Licensed to practice nursing in the State of North Carolina.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Preferred Skills:

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, effective treatment notes and related documents.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and/or the public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, mean, mode and median; ability to interpret bar graphs.
