Day Treatment Program
Day Treatment is a program for children and teens whose behaviors are so severe that they are having a hard time learning in their regular school setting.
The program takes place in a separate classroom or building and is meant to be temporary. It helps students build better behavior and coping skills so they can return to their community school within nine to sixteen months.
Day Treatment may be helpful when school-based supports have not worked. Students who are identified as Exceptional Children (EC) can take part, but this is not required. The goal of Day Treatment is to help students make real progress and safely return to their regular classroom.
Program Overview
Day Treatment services are provided in partnership with the referring school system. Students continue to receive educational services based on their Individualized Educational Programming (IEP) while getting extra behavioral and emotional support.
Day Treatment is only available to students enrolled in the Lexington City School system.
